August 2015
Wagons,
Wheels, Rises and a Van.
After
a hiatus of some months our vendor is back into delivery
mode. Late last year, they made the decision to split from
their current business partner and establish their own
assembly facility. This was due in part to some QC issues
they had experienced with their joint assembly facility.
This decision impacted upon our delivery schedule whilst
they brought their new team online. We should be able to
deliver a new product every two months for the foreseeable
future, commencing with the balance of the NRY program.

Wheels
and Tyres
Having experienced random loose tyres on models in the past
our single largest demand on our Vendor was addressing this
issue in their new factory. Having moulded some 80,000 wheel
centres in the past the percentage of failures was very low
but accounted for almost all our customer complaints. We have
now adopted best practice of moulding the wheel centre within
the tyre. The machined rebate on the inside of the tyre
providing a positive lock, see below.

Price
Rise
For the past 3 years we've absorbed all increases in tooling
and manufacturing costs however with the Australian dollar now
around USD $ 0.69 we need to increase our retail prices by a
modest amount. As of 1st November 2015 our new deliveries will
be some 10% greater than now, however any customers wishing to
take advantage of pre-delivery offers, can preorder and pay
for models prior to this date at the current price.
We'll upload VR RTC, NSW MRC, EHO, VR GY, 40' Container and
JHG order forms shortly.

A
New Van
Following on from our timber SHG Brake, van we have
commissioned Ivan Ng to design and manufacture the JHG Brake
van. A recent introduction via another Importer gave us the
opportunity to work with Ivan, we are extremely pleased with
the engineering and design that he has provided on this model.
Featuring one body style, two bogie types, 24 paint schemes
and working red marker lights, this van should prove extremely
popular.

NRY
Ice Chilled Box Cars:
Some
limited NRY stock arrived via DHL earlier this week and all
pre-orders have been posted.
|

|
JCW
Container Wagon:
The
revised new samples of our JCW also arrived last week. The
changes to the centre sill attachment and altered coupler box
design are complete and work exceptionally well. The flex in
the deck moulding has now been eliminated.
|

|
On
a forum a question was raised regarding the coupling design of
the JCW. We incorporated a long shank scale head Kadee coupler
set into the draught box and with a prototypically wide throat
we successfully tested several models together around 20”
radius curves and coupled to short wheelbase wagons.
