Following our first
production run of OCY 63’ container wagons we subsequently
produced a second and third production run of both the
original solid deck and a newer open deck variant. At the time
of production our supplier was in the midst of exiting a
earlier four partnership business and establishing his own
entity. For the production and assembly, they subcontracted
these processes to another supplier.
It appears that during
the moulding process the zinc alloy used in the centre spine
of the wagon contained either the incorrect alloy mix or some
contaminants. The result was the zinc (mazac or zamac as its
commonly called) centre-beam continued to expand over time.
This expansion coupled with the fixed length plastic deck has
caused the 2nd and 3rd run models to bend like a
proverbial banana.
As part of the re-run for
2025 we’ll produce a replacement body for customers looking
to replace their bowed model.
We’ll supply 3 assembled models but without couplers
and bogies. We'll ask modellers to remove these reusable parts and
return their 3-pack for replacement 3-pack.
Further details to
follow.
