LLW
/ NWLF Well Wagons:
Three wagons were constructed
by Railway Workshops between 1953-54. Coded LLW and numbered
130, 590 and 750. These 46’ long depressed centre well
wagons were designed to carry heavy and over height loads.
Originally delivered with plain bearing bogies and buffers,
later they received roller bearing bogies and had their
buffers removed. They could carry loads up to 50 tonnes
distributed over the bogies or up to 38 tonnes distributed
over the well section. Their versatility ensured they remained
available for traffic until well into the 1990s.
X200 Series 1 Diesel rail
tractor load
:
Six rail tractors were
constructed on the inner bogie of an AD60 locomotive. Built by
Water Supply Plant and Equipment Workshops in 1963-64 these
tractors shunted various town centres and workshop locations.
They were conveyed on depressed center well wagons when
requiring servicing at Eveleigh.
These are non powered wagon
loads, however they will have rotating wheels and connecting
rods.
